The Next [sub]Chapter

Having both recently graduated from the University of Toronto, Casey and I are finally going to embark on a trip to Europe that we've talked about since he started his post secondary education five years ago.

For the most part, we've both done our own thing for the past 10 years, which has seen us on seemingly opposite sides of the country while we finish/start school, as well as countless summers apart while I worked and he raced wagons, on top of winters playing hockey and pursuing architecture and design in different cities. This trip is something that we feel is a well deserved time together to really just travel by the seat of our pants; no set plans, just destinations in mind.

This is an opportune time for this type of travel, as neither of us are tied down or committed to any occupation, schooling, place of residence, or even pets for a solid four months. Needless to say, this is a rarity for such freedom to present itself, and we're going to jump on it before the next chapter of our lives begins. In a sense, this is the perfect prelude to the (somewhat daunting) adventure that lies ahead when we return to begin our careers in our respective fields.

A rough outline of our noted destinations that we would like to reach can be found here on a map that I have created so that our families can have at least a vague idea of where in the world we're heading. More places will likely be added before and as we go!

In terms of preparation, so far we have booked accommodation for when we land in London, England, as well as train passes for Switzerland and Germany that will get us where we need to go for a few months. Other than that, we've basically just generated packing lists of what we need to take (or try to fit in our backpacks and suitcases)... So as you can see nothing is really detailed, but for whatever reason with this trip as compared to New Zealand in 2012, that isn't phasing us and it's feeling like the adventure it is.

We'll be hopefully updating this blog with photos and notes as we go so that you may follow along on our travels before we come home in December. I figured it would be a good way to write and not forget anything, as I'm sure that after almost 4 months we very well could!
