17.10.2018: Gruyeres, Switzerland

This morning we drove an hour and half from our Air B&B to a medieval village called Gruyeres. We saw that the village was highly recommended on a lot of travel blogs so we made a day trip out to explore it. Gruyere is the home of  the Gruyere cheese factory, a castle, the Hans Ruedi Giger museum (he was part of the special effects team for the Alien franchise), and a Tibetan Munk museum.

The village is somewhat famous for its medieval feel! After visiting Gruyeres, Court and I went up to the Moleson Summit via cable car and got to see a spectacular view of the Gruyere region and the Swiss prealps. Tomorrow we are catching a train to Grindelwald and spending the next few days there hiking and touring the nearby towns.

The castle has a lot of history involving art so it is host to art displays and exhibitions

A turret displaying fantasy art

The spot where we ate our packed lunches because it is not cheap here!

I am not a fan of the franchise so if anyone knows what this it let us know! An infant in goggles.

The whole village was very cool to see!

Gruyere has an otherworldly feel

The second part of our journey to the Moleson summit! We took a cable car and then this gondola to the top.

Thinking about Harry Potter

Courtnie hates walking on grates! Even in Toronto she would always try to avoid them, so she was not loving this lookout spot.

She also has a fear of steep stairs or narrow spiral staircases

We stopped at the Gruyere cheese factory and it smells awful. It was however, interesting to see the walls of cheese wheels
