16.11.2018: Zugspitze, Germany

This morning Courtnie and I originally planned to catch a bus and tour the Neuschwanstein Castle, but unfortunately we missed the bus this AM, and so tomorrow we will be going to the Castle. Today we decided that since we saw the Top of Europe in Switzerland that we should see the Top of Germany from the Zugspitze mountain. Zugspitze is the tallest mountain in Germany and it stands tall at 2962 meters!

We caught the cog train up to SonnAlpin on Zugspitzplatt and from there we caught the cable car to the top of Zugspitze! It was cloudy and gray in Garmisch-Partenkirchen but up on the mountains it was a very beautiful day!

This is not a staged photo, Court and I thought that when we left our place this a.m. we would be touring a castle not the top of a mountain, and so neither of us brought sunglasses

So it is possible to climb to the actual summit of Zugspitze! However, Court and I were not in the best shoes for climbing since, once again, we thought we would be inside a castle! I was nominated to get us a picture from the summit!

What I really enjoy about places like this is that there is only one caution sign and nothing else! So the way up to the top was to hold onto the cable and that was it!

Ice + my flat bottomed boots

I also forgot my go pro which is terrible because on the other side of this peak it was very narrow and iced over, and a significantly steep drop down, which would have been great to have on video!
